I like hockey.
Ask me anything
There was a loud scraping noise as five chairs slid backward. The men rose as a unit. And started coming for her.
She looked to the faces of the two she knew, but their grave expressions weren’t encouraging.
And then the knives came out.
With a metallic whoosh, five black daggers were unsheathed.
She backed up frantically, hands in front of herself. She slammed into a wall and was about to scream for Wrath when the men dropped down on bended knees in a circle around her. In a single movement, as if they’d been choreographed, they buried the daggers into the floor at her feet and bowed their heads. The great whoomp of sound as steel met wood seemed both a pledge and a battle cry.
The handles of the knives vibrated.
The rap music continued to pound.
They seemed to be waiting for some kind of response from her.
"Umm. Thank you," she said.
The men’s heads lifted. Etched into the harsh planes of their faces was total reverence. Even the scarred one had a respectful expression.
And then Wrath came in with a squeeze bottle of Hershey’s syrup. “Bacon’s on the way.” He smiled. “Hey, they like you.”
Well, you don’t need to be so unkind towards his mother, anon.
Personally, I do find it tacky when fans bring the family members of actors into near-pointless fandom squabbling. But she’s a mother, of course she’ll defend her son. As any parent would do.
Anyhow, I don’t hate Posey as Posey stans would like think. I think he’s a great guy, who’s typically super sweet. Except for that comment he made about Sterek. I think he was a total asshole for saying that. And that’s where all of this is coming from.
Okay, being gay, I already have to face a world where people think i’m weird, bizarre, twisted, perverted, going to hell, shouldn’t be allowed to have rights, etc. So when Posey is over there saying that Sterek (two FICTIONAL characters that aren’t even together in the show yet) is weird, bizarre, and twisted…then what must he think about all the people who like Sterek?
He thinks we’re all weird, bizarre, and twisted too.
And for what? Wanting to see Sterek happen? Shipping Sterek? Asking Jeff, Dylan, and Hoechlin about Sterek? Liking Sterek? Supporting the idea of Sterek?
And it’s even worse because Posey didn’t elaborate on why he finds Sterek to be weird, bizarre, and twisted. Stiles and Derek have good chemistry, a good connection, they’re enjoyable to see together. It’s not a surprise that people want to see them in a relationship. So why is it weird and twisted? Why would Posey choose those words specifically.
Even though I believe Posey isn’t homophobic, when he said that, everybody’s mind went to the fact that Sterek is a popular gay ship. Weird, bizarre, and twisted are already words that people throw at people of the queer community. It felt like a personal attack more than anything.
And since he’s a popular celebrity, by saying what he did, the way he did, he also justified all of the ignorant and very homophobic fans whose minds also went to the fact that Sterek is a popular gay ship. Now they’re even more secure in their homophobic mindset.
It was much more than just one tiny opinion to a lot of people. It hurt. It made me angry. It was completely unnecessary for him to word his dislike for Sterek in that way.
I don’t go out of my way to talk negatively about Posey. People send me asks, I answer them. Sometimes I can be harsh. It depends on what was brought up.
